Nhacainga is a wildlife area that has been developed over the last 10 years within the Coutada 9 and Coutada 13 lease areas in the Manica Province of Mozambique. Prior to the civil war, the Coutada was operated by Safrique and was renowned for its lion and buffalo. The area falls approximately half way between Chimoio and Tete. The hunting in Nhacainga is challenging and offers very exciting big game hunting. The habitat is very diverse with savanna woodland, tambooti forests, seasonal rivers with thick riverine vegetation and spectacular granite outcrops. As well as elephant, lion, buffalo and the common plainsgame, there is a quota of Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, sable, red duiker, oribi, reedbuck and suni.
Coutada 10 has long been regarded as one of the best hunting locations in Mozambique. Situated adjacent to the south western border of the Marromeu National Park, Coutada 10 covers an area in excess of 1000 square miles, unfenced and wild with the Indian Ocean coastline of over 28 miles.
Coutada 10 is a hunters’ paradise, incorporating the great Zambezi river floodplains, grasslands, forest and swamps all of which are the habitat of huge wild herds of Cape Buffalo, of Sable, Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Hippo, Crocodile, and the elusive forest Duikers, Suni and Oribi and other plainsgame.
